Mushroom Tree
A large tree with curved and twisting branches and mushroom caps as its canopy.
This tree sculpture has a statuesque presence with life size twisting steel branches that curve upwards in organic shapes. At the base the trunk has a thick web of boughs like the growth of an ancient tree. The canopy is made up of large metal mushroom caps. Each cap is made of many thin, shaped pieces of steel welded together in profile and radiating out from a central point. Together the many edges create the shape of a simple mushroom cap above but on the underside they make complex undulating profiles like the intricate gills found on real mushrooms. The tree can come with a bonsai style trough or a with the trunk set directly on the ground.
